I am a North-East England-based oil painter whose work combines meticulous realism with symbolism to explore hope, loss, disappointment and the fragility of human aspirations. Drawing on the bleakness of the Northern landscape, existentialist literature and the traditions of symbolic and tonal painting, I construct psychologically charged scenes in which figures, objects and recurring motifs become vehicles for metaphor and narrative.

I graduated from the University of Sunderland with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2004. Since then, my work has been exhibited at institutions including the National Portrait Gallery and Scottish National Portrait Gallery, and has been shown in galleries in Britain and internationally.

I am represented by RJD Gallery in Michigan, and my work is held in the permanent collection of the Muskegon Museum of Art, Michigan, as well as in private collections.
